SEND and Inclusion.

OUR INCLUSION APPROACH

At Sparkles Academy of Performing Arts, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.

We believe that every child deserves access to the arts, regardless of ability, background or additional needs. Our sessions are designed to be welcoming, supportive and adaptable - ensuring all children feel safe, valued and able to participate.

A CHILD CENTRED APPROACH

We understand that every child is different. Our teaching approach focuses on:

  • Building confidence at each child’s own pace

  • Encouraging self expression in a safe environment

  • Creating clear routines and positive expectations

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing as well as performance

Children are never pressured to perform beyond what feels comfortable for them.

SEND AND ADDITIONAL NEEDS

We have experience supporting children and young people with:

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety

  • Sensory processing differences

  • Social communication needs

Where appropriate, sessions can be adapted to support individual needs. This may include:

  • Clear structure and routine

  • Visual or verbal prompts

  • Flexible participation

  • Calm reassurance and encouragement

  •

WORKING WITH FAMILIES

We believe partnership with parents and carers is essential.

Before joining, families are encouraged to share any relevant information that may help us support their child. This allows us to create a positive, enjoyable experience for everyone.

Open communication helps us ensure children feel understood, supported and confident in class.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER

  • A welcoming, inclusive environment
  • SEND aware, experienced teaching staff
  • Adaptable sessions where possible
  • Focus on wellbeing and confidence
  • Clear expectations and boundaries

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

While we are committed to inclusion, Sparkles Academy is a group based performing arts setting and not a specialist one to one provision.

If a child requires:

  • Continuous one to one support

  • Medical care

  • Specialist therapeutic intervention

We will always discuss this openly with families to ensure Sparkles is the right environment for their child. Our priority is the safety, wellbeing and positive experience of every child in our care.

Alternative Provision with our Wider Team

Alongside Sparkles Academy, we also run Spark Ignite, an alternative provision (AP) within the same wider team.

Spark Ignite is designed for children and young people for whom mainstream education is not currently the right fit, offering a more flexible, wellbeing-led setting alongside creative and practical learning.
